Things took a bit longer than expected to unfold, which turned out to be a good thing for the project. We began by trading sketches, sending files back and forth and allowing things to unfold naturally over time. From what I can observe, Matteo doesn't overthink things, and I often do. He worked very quickly, sending me a lot of textural elements and synth parts very early in the process - he had to wait a while to hear ANYTHING back from me (perhaps it was about a year... which also makes him extremely patient and forgiving, what a gem!) For a while, I thought the project might not actually happen because my life just got too busy, and I found I didn't have the mental space to get back into making ambient music. I'm glad we stuck with it because it's a beautiful record (I believe I'm allowed to say that because it's a collaboration) The lion's share of the recording and finishing touches happened in early 2023 when it became clear what type of record we were making together.
